Description

Welch DryFast Collegiate Diaphragm Vacuum Pump, Model 2042B-01, maximum vacuum 2 Torr and 1.2 CFM flowrate. Diaphragm Vacuum Pumps use a flexible expanding pocked, one directional (one-way) valves, and a lifting mechanism such as a rocking piston to expand and collapse the diaphragm pocket and move gas. This gas movement is what creates the vacuum. This particular Diaphragm Vacuum pump uses chemically resistant fluorocarbon materials in the construction of the pump components; this results in a vacuum pump that is highly resistant to chemicals and chemical attacks from corrosive liquids and vapors, acids, bases, alcohols, solvents, and thinners. This feature makes this particular vacuum pump a popular choice in Laboratory Applications.

Some of the advantages and features of this vacuum pump are chemical resistance, Oil-Free, no need for lubrication, and no need for maintenance, the vacuum is adjustable and high flow. Common applications include but are not limited to: Vacuum filtration, SPE(Solid Phase Extractions), Rotary evaporation, Rotary Evap of low and high volatile solvents, Vacuum ovens, Automated systems, Aspiration, DNA pelleting, Centrifugal concentrators, Multiple user filtration / utility vacuum network.

PTFE Diaphragm Vacuum Pumps enable precise vacuum control for organic evaporations with exclusive Advanced Vapor Management (AVM).

Internal Pressurization ASTM F2096 Leak Testing Systems
Internal Pressurization (ASTM F2096) Leak Testing Systems are instruments that are used during the Quality Control process to discover leaks in sealed packages. As opposed to the vacuum bubble leak test, where the specimen is subjected to a vacuum, the internal pressurization integrity test creates a pressure difference and drives the air through a leak by internally pressurizing the specimen. Our Internal Pressurization Leak Testing Systems are designed and built to conform to the ASTM F2096 Protocol Standard.
Belt Drive Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps
A Belt Drive Rotary Vane Pump is almost identical to a Direct Drive Rotary Vane Pump. The only difference between the two is that the belt drive Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump is driven by a belt. There are several advantages why a belt drive vacuum pump would be preferable. One of these reasons is that the belt drive Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump runs at a slower RPM therefore the temperature created is lower, the wear and tear is less, and the overall lifetime of the pump is longer. The disadvantages are a lower CFM and performance.
Our Work: Chamber for Vacuum Extrusion System
This is a custom acrylic vacuum chamber build for a high volume manufacturer of parts which are fabricated using vacuum extrusion techniques. The challenge was to build a vacuum chamber system which mated on two perpendicular surfaces; on the bottom and on the rear of the chamber. This was accomplished by incorporating a double gasket mechanism on the bottom and incorporating a clamping mechanism on the rear.
Related Articles: Force Decay Leak Testing
Force Decay Leak Testing is a very popular quantitative leak testing method used to quality test package and product integrity due to its ability to detect small leaks which cannot be seen through visual inspection. In this method, the test specimen is internally inflated by either internal pressurization or vacuum force. The inflated test specimen will, in turn, apply a force on a pressure transducer. Finally, the change in force applied by the inflated specimen over a specified time is observed.
